PostSubject: Monroe   Monroe EmptyTue Apr 07, 2009 9:25 pm

Birthname: Niki Monroe
Current Name: ^same (Niki Monroe)
Alias: Monroe (she's aware of that Monroe, as a first name, would be a boys name, but since she's a bit tomboy-ish she doesn't mind)
Name Origin: (see name meaning)
Name Meaning: Niki (afghan: goodness. greek: victory of the people), Monroe (irish/gaelic surname, meaning "from the mouth of the river")

Age: 3½ (~24 years if human)
Sex: female
Breed [Dire, Timber, Arctic... etc.]: she's not sure, probably 3/4 dire and 1/4 red or timber wolf. who knows ...

Main coat Color: Black
Other coat colors: Dark tan
Markings: like a dobermann/pinscher
Scars: scars on right shoulder that she got from a fight with a bear (see history!)
Eye Color(s): toxic green
General description: Monroe is kind of leggy but not really muscular. She's not thin either, pretty average well-built. Her height is her advantage in fights, she is a good runner and since she has fought many fights she's a good fighter even though she isn't that strong, it's more tactics and size. And the fact that some males wouldn't fight a girl. She has medium to long black fur with dark tan pinscher markings. Her coat isn't very dense and therefore she doesn't like cold weather, but she loves rainy and sunny weather. She loves water and everything that's got to do with it (e.g. swimming) since her coat dries fast.

History:
Her origin is not certain. As far back as Monroe herself remembers, it all started in the far east lands where she grew up in a family that for sure wasn't her own. For starters, the rest of the pack were all white or gray while she had a black main coat. Anyway, she was told she had been found by the river, that's why she was named Monroe - "from the mouth of the river". Her foster parents were betas of their pack but, despite that the alpha let them, they could not have kids of their own. They thought of Monroe as a blessing and they brought her home when they found her. The very same night the pack had won a big fight against their main rival pack, and the victory was celebrated lively. Monroe, who didn't have a first name yet, got the name Niki - "victory of the people" (also "goodness") for, to the betas, she was a blessing along with the victory. Her parents(i.e. foster parents) and pack always called her Niki.

She was well respected by the other pups and she had a lot of friends in that pack. Those were the happy days and she was actually a nice person back then. Of course nothing lasts forever - but we will come to that part later on. At the age of one, her parents miraculously managed to produce their own litter. Monroe was as proud of her siblings as her parents were and she played with them and looked after them as any sister would. But in her foster parents' eyes she changed, from their beloved miracle to an orphan they had to care for, weither they wanted it or not. The changes in Monroe's life were of course subtle, she thought her parents were just preoccupied because the new pups were a handful but soon she started to feel neglected. She didn't resent her siblings of course, she never blamed them. She loved her brothers and sisters, even though they stole her foster parents' attention and love. But she started to realize she would never mean as much to her foster parents as they would. So she started to socialize more with the other members of the pack, mostly the boys her own age. She became a tomboy and liked to fight and she usually followed the guys when they went off on adventures, exploring the areas. They used to meet up with some wolves their age from the rival pack to fight. It was of course, at first, nothing but fun and games but as they grew older the fights grew wilder.

Monroe's bad habits of tricking other wolves started sometime here. She liked making the younger wolves do things for her, like hunt or do stupid things. She felt powerful when she successfully manipulated them and she liked it when her friends laughed with her while making fun of some stupid pup who fell for her tricks. As always these games go too far and at one time, when they met up with the gang from the rival pack she decided to start a competition. They were to see what pack was the better, she said, by racing to the Cave up the mountain. The mountain was known to inhabit mountain lions. And in the cave, rumours said, lived a grumpy old grizzly bear, almost blind and with silver fur. Everyone thought of it as a tale you tell children to scare them not to go there. Monroe challenged the others to see who was the bravest by racing there. It was more or less a tie and everyone was tired when they reaced the cave, but a mixed feeling of excitement and fear kept them alert. Monroe looked at the leader of the other gang and smirked. "You don't dare to enter the cave?" The leader of the gang didn't want to look foolish in front of his friends so he said that he'd enter if Monroe did. So be it, she thought and they entered together, despite their friends told them they'd better not.

The cave was pitch black, and dead silent. "Nothing here, huh?" the young rival male asked her. One could here the echoes of his voice travelling down the cave, far into the mountain. Monroe was a little scared however, but happy that the darkness hid her scared look she answered quickly "Don't be too sure, there mi...." she never got to finish her sentence until they heard a roar from the side. Monroe turned around and started running towards the light of the outside world. She was thrown away by a giant bear paw and flew into the stone wall of the cave. The other wolf was not far away. She got up and ran towards him "come on, we gotta get out!!" she hissed. The bear might be blind, but it surely wasn't deaf. The young male wolf started running and they both dashed towards the cave entrance. They made it out and the bear didn't follow them out. Monroe never really knew why it didn't - probably because it couldn't stand the light, that's what all of them thought. Monroe got away with some bruises and deep scratches from the bear's claws, the male was worse. His ear had been partly torn off, his front leg was broken and he had some deep cuts along the back. All of their friends had run off, probably scared from the roar they'd heard from inside the cave. Monroe decided to help the rival male home. He could barely walk, and he was really mad with Monroe for making him go in there, so the walk took some time. But as time went he stopped being mad and they became friends. Three days later they made it to the male's pack. They weren't happy to have Monroe there but they thanked her for bringing the young male home. Appearently he was the alpha's youngest child, no heir of anything, but still important to the pack. They let her stay and rest in their areas for a while and Monroe started to think about things. Her friends must've thought she died in the cave, but for some reason she didn't care. She was just scared her mother and father would be angry with her - she had brought one of her siblings to the cave too.
She decided not to turn back to her old pack. She needed to find her origins and find her own way. Monroe stayed with the rival pack for a year or so. Then she left. The only one she told was the young male who had fought the bear with her, told him she was leaving. She asked if he'd come with her but he said he couldn't. He had responsibilities, he said. He begged her to stay, but she just couldn't. Three year of age, and now she was left on her own. That's when her real adventure began.

She decided to go west, and that's how Monroe ended up in these lands.

Personality:
As you might have understood from the history(if you read it all) Monroe acts of her own personal gain or amusement. She likes to manipulate people and use others or trick them. She'd never say no to a challenge, and she is often the first one to give others a challenge. She loves finding out other's weaknesses and always try to stay cool and often walks around with a smirk on her face. She's a little of a bully, mostly because of the company she had as a young wolf. She prefers to be with male wolves, females tends to dream too much, she thinks. Monroe is much of a tomboy and likes things that otherwise would be typically (the bad traits of) "male"; fighting, talking too much, not thinking about consequences (*) etc. Of course, she isn't just a bad person, she still has a heart inside and she values her friends and family a lot. Also the trust of friends and family, because her trust is hard to earn, and even though she lies and tricks a lot she still wants others to believe in her. At times she wishes she wasn't the way she is, but she has never managed to change her ways.

(* ok i wasn't trying to be mean to the male gender xD
Monroe just got some bad traits SOME males have. I'm aware that females can have these too. These are all Monroe's thoughts not mine. She hates dreamers and thinks it's usually girls who does that... well... no offence!! i like guys XD)
