Quest to meet new Faces

Moonrise wandered without a shred of dignity across the parched earth. There wasn't a single body of water large enough to slake her thirst. She began slightly to sway, seeing double of various rocks and nearly thrice the amount of sand. She lost her balance and with an audible thud, landed on her side in what wasn't sand- but was grass. The feel of cool, moist grass on her shoulder awakened her slightly. She looked down and saw that she was on the line that divided Amrak from the "Free lands"

Cael swivled his head from side to side, trembling. Where was that voice comming from? He heard a soft whisper, gently caressing his mind with a soft and delicate touch.

'I'm here......'

There it was again. That soft, feminine whisper. He cast his sightless eyes upward, feeling the warmth of the sun on his face. He trembled again and lowered his maw, taking one tentative step in front of the other with the utmost caution. He was punished for it though, as he bumped his head on something hard. Cael skitted backwards, afraid. He reached out with his paw to bat at what had hurt him. It was hard and gritty, though he couldn't tell exactly what it was. He flicked his tail and gave up.

He was always wandering like this, usually bumping into things. No one wanted him. He heard it all the time. He was useless. He heard it all the time. Worthless, a stain to the animal kingdom.

Lost in his thoughts, he tripped over something...furry. He fumbled around on the ground for a moment before leaping to his feet and fleeing instinctively. He might've gotten far, had he not run into another hard, gritty object. He fell backwards and groaned at the pain in his head.

Moonrise's eyes shot open when an unknown force had crashed over her. Her paws were throbbing from the long journey over to the "Free Lands". At first, she was disgusted when she found a pile of groaning fur laying not far from her; but then she realized that is was simply another wolf, then her flirting instincts kicked in. Moonrise had given up all hope of being normal a long time back.

Carefully she stumbled over to the wolf. "And your name, my good boy?"

[I'm trying to keep her posts short, for the sake of not reading a lot. In Koniak is where i'll make all the long posts xD]
[BTW: She is probably going to be crushing on Cael because she falls in love easily :D]

Cael slunk away from the feminine voice. He lowered himself to the ground, his hears pinned back against his head. He felt something hard press against his back and realized that he was cornered. He had the tip of his tail curled against his left back leg, and he growled warningly. He normally didn't like others near him, and now he was trapped, which only made it worse. His hair fell over his light gray eyes. He rose, standing at his full height...which really wasn't all that much.

Moonrise towered over him, looking down with a feminine glare. "You do know it's ladylike of me to introduce myself." She growled, and shifted her eyes, inspecting every inch of him. "I'd have you know that I am not a lady, though." The blue arrows under her eyes seemed to glow under the sunlight. She hoped that this stranger was afraid of how she earned her scar and her blind eye. She snarled lightly.

[BTW: She has a blind eye, and an Australian Accent xD]

Cael titled his head and shrunk back, wondering what this voice was saying to him. Judging by the tone, it was angry. Why was she growling at him? He hadn't done anything wrong, not in his eyes at least. He looked up at her with blind eyes, his hair falling to either side of his face, and sniffed, getting the scent of the female. He lowered his head suddenly and sneezed. "Is your name Siobhan?" he asked, wondering if this voice was that of his sister. Siobhan had been the only one that Cael had allowed near him for a long period of time. He hadn't fully trusted her, he felt he couldn't trust anyone, but he had come close.

Moonrise's harsh tone melted soft. "I don't remember my name being Siobhan... thank you. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you lacked vision." Moonrise sighed and rubbed her paw on her blind eye with the scar overlapping it. "I'm half blind as well. I should probably introduce myself, but first I must know your name, Stranger."

"Oh," Cael replied solemnly, his ears laying back against his head. He had really wanted to see his sister again. Well, not see, really, but one got the point. Then the female asked him a question. What was it? His name? She wanted to know his name?

....What was a name? Name.... name.... His name? What was his name? He fumbled for words as he tried to remember, digging his claws into the earth. "Umm...C...Ca...Cael," he answered in a hushed whisper.

"Cael." She nodded her head. "And I'm Moonrise" She said smoothly and quick. She looked down at Cael whom was now a wolf that looked saddened. "What is bothering you, Cael?" She fell off her fours and plopped into the sitting position on her haunches.

[Writers block]

Cael heard the she-wolf sitting down, and wasn't sure if he should do the same. "Moonrise?" he echoed, not answering the girls question. "Mama used to say that the moon was a big bright thing in the sky." He wondered if this voice was really the moon talking to him. His ears perked and he wagged his tail from side to side happily. He had an itch behind his ear and reached up to scratch it with a hind paw. He missed repeatedly, until he finally found his ear after about a minute.

"Hmmmmm..." Spoke Moonrise, understanding the Wolf was a bit confused. "Shall I describe myself?" She smiled though Cael couldn't see. "I am a big tall wolf. I am black in color, and I have two blue arrows under each eye. My eyes are blue... I have a big scar across my blind eye." Moonrise hoped that he understood the colors that she spoke of.

Cael tilted his head slightly, not quite sure what the voice was talking about. He had been born blind, and had never seen colors. Words like green, black, blue or others of the like meant nothing to him. He flinched slightly and his hair fell over his eyes. For a moment, he thought he had heard another voice...or two. Or three.

'Go away Cael.'

'No one wants you here.'

He whimpered, pressing his ears back against his head, and lowered himself to the ground. "Are there other peoples with you?" he asked timidly, his voice barely more than a whisper. He started moving his head back and forth in a rocking motion, his tail flicking back and forth.

Moonrise sighed when he understood no colors. "Lets put it in this way, Cael... I am not the moon." She smiled then it faded away when he asked if there were other wolves.

"There is nobody else with me, Cael."

Cael shifted his weight from paw to paw, casting his gaze downward. "Are you mad at me?" he asked timidly, digging his claws into the ground. He hated it when he angered people. "You sound mad," he added, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I'm not mad at you." Moonrise put her ears back and looked slightly guilty.

Cael didn't pay attention as he flopped down to the ground, panting and a bit stressed.

'I'm here...'

'I'm here.'

"Mama?" Cael gasped aloud, swiveling his ears forward. He lept to his paws and darted forward blindly, following the sound of the voice that sounded so much like his mothers.
